The Handwriting Tag!

image

Hello everyone!

Just a quick post today! I was nominated by the awesome Egypt from A Girl Named Egypt to do the handwriting tag. I will admit, I was a little nervous to do this because my handwriting is completely shocking! However, I powered through nonetheless and this is the end result. Hopefully you can read it!

I nominate Marie, Janice and Joy to give this a go. It’s a super easy tag and pretty fun too! 🙂

Anyways, that’s it from me! I hope you’re all having an amazing week.

Lots of love

-Daisy 🙂

Post a Quote a Day Challenge Day #3

Ok, this is the final day of the Quote-a-Day challenge!

I have been thinking long and hard about which quote I should end this trio off on. I spent a lot of time on google before the answer finally hit me. Really, it should have been incredibly obvious! I should have known that when it comes to wisdom, nobody does it quite like Uncle Ben

With great power comes great responsibility

Ok, ok. Technically Uncle Ben didn’t say this originally! It was actually first used as part of the narration in one of the panels of Amazing Fantasy #15 (Spiderman’s first ever appearance in a comic, FYI). However, this quote is widely attributed to him and has been said by him in various movie adaptations (or very roughly alluded to), so I’m gonna give him some credit here! This quote is iconic as it is true. When you are in a position of power, you suddenly become responsible for a lot more than just yourself. You need to keep other people in mind and know that everything that you do affects them in some way. However, this quote doesn’t just apply to world leaders and masked vigilantes! When a YouTuber has an expanding audience of admiring fans, it is their responsibility not to exploit them. When a person sees a man with his leg stuck between a train and a platform, it’s their responsibility to tell a transport officer and get them help! Simply put: If you have the means to do good, then it is your responsibility to use your power for the right reasons. This quote is basically a reminder to do the right thing and not let any power go to your head. A little Parker logic never goes astray!

So anyways, that’s it for the Post a Quote a Day challenge!

Today I’d like to nominate Jodi from A Brash Attitude 🙂

And before I go, just a little housekeeping! I’m going away next week so I won’t be posting anything new for the time being (sad face). However, as soon as I get back we will return to our regular scheduling! I’m going to miss posting so much, but I promise you guys that I will come back with plenty of awesome ideas! Just you wait and see 😛

I hope you guys have an amazing week

Lots of love

-Daisy 🙂

P.S. I couldn’t end this post without including the infamous Tobey Maguire crying face! Oh Tobey, you will always be Spiderman in our hearts 😛

Post a Quote a Day Challenge Day #2

Take your make-up off/ Let your hair down/ Take a breath/ Look into the mirror, at yourself/ Don’t you like you?/ ‘Cause I like you

Do you guys remember when Colbie Calliat’s music video for ‘Try’ came out? I do, very clearly. I remember reading an article on Buzzfeed about it and a gif set from the video almost bringing me to tears! When I saw the full music video, though, I really started crying. At the time I didn’t know why I had gotten so emotional, but now when I look back on it I think that it was something to do with the fact that subconsciously I could strongly relate to the message of the song. I, like most girls, have felt this pressure growing up to adhere to society’s idea of ‘beautiful’. When I noticed that the boys in my year weren’t looking at me and the only person who called me pretty was my mum, I began to think that there was something wrong with me. I didn’t really have a problem with how I looked, but because other people didn’t approve of me I felt like I wasn’t good enough.

Of course, this idea I had was absolutely ridiculous! The only person I should have ever aimed to impress was myself, and that is why I love this quote so much. In this video Colbie isn’t saying that there’s anything wrong with wearing makeup, but rather you shouldn’t be wearing it as a mask to impress others. At the end of the day, although wearing makeup is really nice, you should be able to take a makeup wipe to your face, look in the mirror and think ‘hey, I am beautiful!’. It took me a while to get to that point, and it was difficult. Even now I have my ‘off’ days, but this song serves as a reminder to me that, even when I don’t feel like it’s possible, I am beautiful and I don’t need to try to be anything to impress anyone. Needless to say, I think that this video should be required viewing for all women!

Here it is. Get the tissues ready.

Ok, that’s all from me!

Today I nominate Dark Charm to take on this challenge 😛

I hope you guys are having an amazing day

Lots of love

Post a Quote a Day Challenge Day #1

Hey everyone!

I was just browsing through my reader the other day when I noticed that the incredibly lovely Shannon from Forever Shannon nominated me for the Quote a Day Challenge! However, when I was searching the blogosphere trying to get an idea of what this entails I actually realised that I had been nominated ages ago by the awesome Janice from The Simple Beginner! (Sorry, Janice!) So I decided that now would be high time to respond to these two nominations. I take it I have to post a quote each day for three days, then nominate somebody new to do it each day. Simple!

Ok, here’s my quote for today.

Jai guru deva om/ nothing’s gonna change my world

This is a quote from my all-time favourite Beatles song (and probably all-time favourite song in general) ‘Across the Universe’. The song was written by John Lennon and contains some of the most beautiful imagery I’ve ever come across, both in poetry and in song lyrics. This is the song’s chorus, which incorporates Sanskrit as well as English. The Sanskrit basically translates to ‘glory to the shining remover of darkness’. However, the part of this quote that I like the best is the second half. ‘Nothing’s gonna change my world’ is such a beautiful reminder that, no matter how hard life gets, nothing can change you unless you let it. I actually used to write this quote on top of my tests when I was doing my year 12 exams! It’s just a really nice quote from a really beautiful song.

OK, now for today I nominate Fiona from Escape With Writing to give this a shot!

I hope you’re all having an amazing day

Lots of love

-Daisy 🙂

P.S. Of course I’m going to have to put the video at the end of the post!

Allergic to the ‘E’ Challenge

I have seen this terrifying challenge floating around the blogosphere for a couple of days now. What is this evil challenge, you may ask? Well, I’ll tell you that right now, dear reader: this challenge forces you to write one (ONE) paragraph without using the letter ‘E’.
